PolyCapture designs and develops low cost, highly selective CO2 capture systems using our patented polymer bead technology.
OUR STORY
PolyCapture was founded as a spin out from CEAD (Cambridge Engineering Analysis and Design) in 2021 to commercialise our patented, low cost, and highly selective CO2 capture technology.
Our Head Office is in Cambridge, whilst our research laboratory is in Leicester. CEAD has over 20 years of thermofluids design, consultancy and engineering experience.
Our polymer bead CO2 capture technology was developed by CEAD in partnership with the University of Cambridge and Cranfield University. The resulting knowledge has been spun out and is now being developed by CEAD and PolyCapture in the joint labs in Leicester, whilst still working with the universities for specialist technical knowledge.
CEAD has received more than £1.3m in grant funding to develop this technology including the BEIS Energy Innovation Programme (EIP) Round 7, early stage Innovate UK funding and Low Carbon KEEP funding from the EU.
The technology is based on low pressure swing adsorption, with high selectivity for CO2 over other gases, resulting in high purity offtake stream.
PolyCapture is currently targeting the Biogas Upgrading , Hydrogen Purification, and Post Combustion/Process CO2 capture markets for the initial deployment of our innovative technology. Our research scientists are working to develop new polymers which can selectively capture other molecules relevant to the healthcare and veterinary sectors.
